Please call or email the office office@ifjs.co.uk for further information regarding any of the below.

    Year 3 Admissions

Children start at Ingatestone and Fryerning Church of England Junior School in the September after their seventh birthday. We currently admit 48 children per year.

Admissions for Year 3 places are dealt with by the Local Authority. Essex County Council does not send letters to parents/carers about making an application. All the application information is available on the website https://www.essex.gov.uk/apply-for-a-primary-school-place.

Prospective Parent Tours for children starting school in September 2027

We very much welcome parents/carers to come and look around our school.

If your child is due to start school in September 2026 please email: office@ifjs.co.uk to arrange a tour, confirming names (2 maximum) and contact telephone numbers.

Please note that all tours must be booked in advance as we have a safety limit to the number of parents for each tour.  Our numbers also ensure that prospective parents can fully experience what Ingatestone and Fryerning Church of England Junior School has to offer for their child.  Tours are for adults only.  We also kindly request that you do not use your mobile phone during the tour. Tours are booked on a first come, first serve basis and unfortunately, we do not have additional space on tours that you have not booked onto.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to our school.

    Mid Year Admissions

A mid-year admission application should be made if you are looking to change your child's school during the school year.

If you are considering moving your son or daughter to Ingatestone and Fryerning Church of England Junior School, please take a look around the website to learn more about our school. You are also welcome to call or email the office to arrange a visit which should help you to decide if this is the right school for your child.

Please be aware that your child is not guaranteed a place at your preferred school. You should not remove your child from their school before you have received another offer.

To apply to Ingatestone and Fryerning Church of England Junior School, please complete this form, and return by email to office@ifjs.co.uk

    Waiting List

If you would like your child to join the school but have established that there are no spaces in the year group through the application process, you may wish to join the school’s waiting list.

To do so, please email office@ifjs.co.uk detailing your child's name, date of birth and your current address.

We ask you to contact the school TERMLY to remain on the waiting list and to advise of any change in circumstances (such as a new address). Please use the email address above, or phone the school office on 01277 353689

Upon a space becoming available, each child will be ranked again in line with the published oversubscription criteria.  Priority will not be given to children based on the date their application was received or their name was added to the list. Looked after children, previously looked after children, and those allocated a place at the school in accordance with a Fair Access Protocol, will take precedence over those on the waiting list.

Parents/carers should notify the school if they wish for their child to be on this list once per term in order to indicate a continued interest.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Our admission arrangements are available below. However, our admissions officer is happy to explain our admissions criteria further.  For pupils joining at any other time apart from when they are seven years old, the mid-year admissions procedure should be followed.
