DT

Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject and our bespoke D.T. curriculum is carefully designed to place learning in real-life contexts. Using creativity and imagination and drawing from prior and current learning, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

Projects are chosen to engage pupils, motivate them and encourage continued learning beyond the classroom. We aim to meet individual needs and ensure that every child, regardless of ability, experiences success.

Centred around the four key elements of DT; Make, Design, Evaluate and Technical Knowledge, pupils acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Cross-curricular links are made with our science, art and history topics throughout the academic year.

Pupils are taught in mixed-age classes, supported by a two-year rolling programme to ensure clear progression across key stages. We maintain strong transition links with both the local Infant School and the Anglo European Secondary School to ensure continuity in learning.
