Lower School Writing Homework

Please try to complete the reading record at home each day, with any reading, spelling or work that you do with your child. 

Spellings are given out on Fridays and tested the following Friday. See below for this half-term's spellings.

Maths Whizz is their mathematics homework, and we expect at least 30 minutes a week – preferably more!

Creative homework and writing homework are given every two weeks, with two weeks to complete them.  Dates and guidance are included in the book they bring home and these will have been discussed with your child before being given out.  

In addition, Times Table Rockstars (TTRS) is an excellent programme to develop quick and accurate recall of tables (both division and multiplication facts).  All children have a login and whilst they may have some time in school to work on it, we highly recommend them accessing it at home a number of times a week to build up their speed and knowledge.  It is important to note that at the end of Year 4, the children will take a national test in a similar format.

We do understand that children have activities outside school plus family commitments.  Try to keep the routine, and we encourage the 'little and often' approach as a good way to embed the learning.
